When I realised where this was, I thought David Tullock was bound to answer it. But then I noticed he had posted it! It is looking across Junction Road towards where Tullocks' petrol pumps now are, with the entrance to the Albert Street car park to the left and the former Cosmo just out of sight further left. I don't remember either of the two buildings in the foreground, but do remember the squint chimney cans on Burnarvie House.

Some pile of "older" folk look at this site! You are all correct, this is where the petrol pumps are today. Interesting to see that Douglas Thomson, proprietor of Mellis's garage sold Esso fuel. I always thought the only Esso pumps in Kirkwall were Jeck Millers at the Kiln Corner.

My Dad, Colin Moar (Poker) was born in Burnarvie House, the one with the squint chimney pots.
