William Harray, as can be seen from his Maple Leaf style cap badge was a recruit, on 12.11.1914, of the Canadian Overseas Expeditionary Force, 5th Field Artillery Brigade, service No.86620. Attestation Paper states his D.O.B. as 27.10.1892, unmarried, occupation, Steam Fitter. Next of kin are given as Jean and Margaret Harray, his sisters,c/o St. Lukes Hospital,Spokane,Washington,U.S.A.

William, Jean, and Margaret Harray emigrated to New York on the S.S. Cedric from Liverpool, 7.5.1914, arriving New York 16.5.1914. At that time Maggie was a Nurse and Jeanie a Book-keeper. Jeanie was also to become a Trained Nurse in Spokane, Washington.
