I remember in the early 80's we had to wade out to that ship to fish for sillocks off it.

As a young lass in the 70's, I remember once being at the 4th barrier beach, and being amazed at seeing a very narrow strip o sand running along the length o the barrier.
My older sister had to swimm out to the wreck on the Burray side, I had to paddle to it, and my bairns had to dig!

I always remember trying to dig this ship (the Carron ) out of the sand back in the 70's. My Dad and I used to go fishing in a rubber dinghy at the 2 ships behind it, the Pontos now buried and the Collindoc, her bridge is still visible.
