Brochure for the Gills Bay to Burwick ferry published in Februrary 1989 – The ship had not even been named at that time. The venture never came to fruition. The Varagen now sails with the new Orkney Ferries to the North Isles. It, along with the Earl Sigurd and Earl Thorfinn, must be getting near their sell by dates. I don’t suppose this would be a good time to ask for new boats. (This comment was written during the “Hard Times” period).
