'[This one] shows unloading in Kirkwall Harbour at around the same time [August 1989]- before the days of ro-ros! Does anyone recognise their car? And where was this particular boat coming from?'

The car registration is C (or G) 351 RBS.

i would say by the look of the open deck this is the islander, but its many years since i have seen her.

Certainly is the Orcadia. The crane on the Islander was more like an A frame.

Going by the crane, it's surely the Orcadia- see picture #2911 and picture #7300 to compare and contrast.
