Wonder if she later became the Redeemer, and worked on salvage . Did she lie alongside the West pier for a while..

Lister Blackstone main engine was completely stripped and rebuilt the whole job taking about 18 months renamed the REDEEMER she went on to be a very successful deep sea salvage vessel.Dont mind her lying any place other than the creel though.

Thats right Jimmy, when Angy had her she was called the Responsive, Angy and Joe nicholsons first steel hulled boat. Looks like there are some portacabins over in Rinigill, dont know if Costains were still around at this time.

This vessel was renamed "Redeemer" and went on to be one of the most succesful salvage ships in the world. I think there is a book written by the owner who with this boat raised millions of pounds worth of gold bullion from very very deep waters all over the world.
I think this boat came to Stromness named "Claban." Angus Sinclair renamed her ?? and yes I believe she had a fire onboard and was towed tae Lyness where she stuck under the pier with a big tide and filled. I have some superstructure from her on whur ferm used as a crossing over a burn, (No I didna nick, it I bought it fae a scrap dealer)!!. Date 1978 ish Willie??.
Where she is lying in this photo is now all filled in and is a base for very heavy lifting cranes to operate on for the future developments at Lyness.

After her refit she was indeed renamed the Redeemer, she sailed back and forth to Lyness for a time carrying burning gear and odds and sods for Jason metals when they were scrapping the old oil tanks. she was painted red and white with the wheelhouse up for'ad.
