Loganair crash in Sanday. They were very lucky as they had just crossed a quarry. [Date initially guessed at 1975.]

1st June 1984, G-BDVW, note the company name painted out on the tail fin.

The airfield was free i believe from the Learmonths who lived in Hammerbreak.

It did not crash on the airfield but in a neep field about 1/2 a mile from the airfield on the other side of the road. the remains were buried in a quarry in front of the Sanday exchange.

Sorry Willie, forgot I posted that request to use the photo back in March, I just got so busy with the magazine and books etc. Thanks for your reply and for letting us use the photo. I`ll look up the accident report and then do a bit of a write up for the website. Regards. Dave.
