Got it in one Herbert. Davy was a boatbuilder and the Skipper of Otterbank. Willie told me many stories about their escapades at sea!

Aye Herbert that wid be the same Davie Irvine indeed, although I think the "Otter " was built by Maxwell in Kirkwall. I mind a boat comman in tae Longhope en route tae Scrabster that Davie Irvine built in the 1960s. She was about and called "Blossom"- dont ken what became o her she had a rather a "strange grace aboot her"!!.

I worked for Davie for a short time. His workshop them was t the foot of the Clay Lone. During that time we went to Stromness to free a Trawler's Propellor. I manned the air pump for him, he must have trusted me (a brave man).
He was also mass producing hen houses at that time.
