Stromness Academy staff pictured in, I think, 1947 - probably on the occasion of the retirement of Headmaster John Learmonth, and probably by Sinclair Studios, Kirkwall. Half of those present had the pleasure of teaching me (or at least had me in their classroom) from time to time, and I am very grateful for their persistence and forbearance.

no 22 is john Learmonth, im sure he must be a relative of my family as my grandmother was jane lawson ritche lermonth , her father was from the Orkneys , his name was Donald Horne Learmonth, his father was william Learmonth and his father was Robert, all from strauncy in Orkney.
