Got one of these in your house? If not, why not? The Devil's Coach-horse is a harmless beetle that often seeks shelter in people's houses. Treat it kindly (as I did this one today).

I've had a couple come into my house, however they are not harmless, they can bite and spray a horrid smelling liquid. Just to let you know!
They are quite possibly, the biggest, ugliest beetles i have ever seen.

Thanks N Muir. Yes they can give you a bit of a nip if you let them, and they can emit a bad smell from the whitish tail-tip organs you can just about make out in my photo. But they can do humans only the mildest of harm, and then only if seriously provoked. Their first instinct is to run and hide, but I rather like the way they'll stand their ground and defend themselves if you persist in annoying them. The one in my pic didn't like my camera lens coming so close, but no Devil's Coach-horses were harmed in the making of this film.
