Memento of Leicester City rescue

This photo kindly given to me to put onto this site by Mary McKay (nee Moar) formerly of Hoy Post Office. This was the gift given to the Hoy ladies who helped in the rescue of shipwrecked fishermen from the Trawler "Leicester City".
The men who rendered assistance to the crew were given leather wallets but as they were used and not as robust as the silver powder compact above I have been unable to get one to photograph I understand they were inscribed with the same wording.

I, Robert Hunt would like to thank the people of Hoy for all their help on that tragic night the Leicester City ran aground . Without your help there would have been a lot more deaths. The people of Grimsby will always remember you all. My dad was one of the dead but I am sure he would have been so proud of you all .THANK YOU
