Lans ashore on the Berry Head

Only just got this photo of the Lans ashore on The Berry Head Hoy. It has been taken from a differant angle than the others that I have seen. It shows again how bad the conditions were the morning that the late Flt Lt Dave Cosby and his crew did that great rescue of the crew from certain death.

Again thank God we along with our friends from the Stromness Lifeboat were unable to get close enough to effect a surf buoy rescue, as I am sure no one would have been able to survive in that sea conditions. And see the rocks in the trough of the breaking seas- that is the possition that the Lifeboat would have needed to be in to effect such a rescue!!.
Again thanks must go to Dave Cosby and his crew for carrying out such a fine rescue that morning.
