Great wartime camoflage maybe!!!!!!!

Hate to tell you but this definitely is the old St Ola photographed by my father returning to Orkney after leave in 1941.

Surely W Watters' observation about her 'great wartime camouflage' has to be considered, Mr Adams? Who, in 1941, would paint a row of gunports on the side of the St Ola so she would stick out like a dog's gonads?

Sorry Roy, as I said before, definately not the "Ola" and I'm pretty sure it's not Stromness either.

I agree with Willie. Compare also to a picture in the website "Ships of the North" - St. Ola (1). Definitely not the Ola. I cannot think of any angle from around the harbour in Stromness that you could get hills in the background as shown in the above photo. So - my vote is that it is not Stromness.

That looks like a "Tay Steamer" with the big square windows penetrating the hull.
The masts are too short, the funnel too narrow and the freeboard too low for this to be the Ola.
Also, the Ola's wheelhouse was much higher up with wings and she had a deckhouse at the after mast, this is definately not the Ola.
One more thing is that she has no swinging derrick on the mainmast/foremast.
