Bull Landing in Caithness

Here can be seen our bull landing on Gills pier for a new life in Scotland!!
With the Simpson family who farm in Caithness and the island of Stroma in the Pentland Firth.
Jimmy Simpson Snr watches the landing of the bull, nothing new to Jimmy, he has been transporting cattle and sheep to and from his native Stroma all his life.

When the Island came onto the market in the early 60s Jimmy bought it one day on a trip to town!! On returning to his wife he said, "I have bought a bit o land the day," and she said "What have you bought now Jimmy?" His reply was "the whole island of Stroma," my he said she wiz wild!

What a fantastic purchase about 1000 acres and about sixty houses in all, no bad fur a day in the toon!!

Photos taken by Linda Cormack who was on the trip to Longhope to pick up the bull.
