This photograph is a postcard entitled Lammas Fair, at what looks like Stromness Market Green. I have had a guess at a date, and wonder if anyone can come up with any suggestions.

I don't think you'll be far off with the date. The photographer's initials are only partially visible on this image but they look like they could be DRGB. DRG Ballantyne of Vetquoy, Sandwick was listed in Peace's Almanac as a photographer from 1912 until 1925.

Thanks for that info David, the date stamp on the card is missing, so I was going on the mode of dress, and the absence of any motorised transport.

Part of the Lammas Market was at the South of Wideford Hill, this may be it.
