11-5-09 The barge at Hatston is just about ready for carting away. John Moar has been busy cutting it up for Barton Scrapyard. Once owned by Currie Brothers Ltd and used for carrying materials to the isles it has lain alongside Hatston slip for some years now. John is using a propane/oxygen mix for the torch, propane being much cheaper than the usual acetylene and nearly as good. The rust has to be laboriously hammered away first or the flame will not cut.
