The latest edition of "Living Orkney" has an article and photograph about the Stromness Dance Band. Here they are playing at my parents' wedding. Incidentally this was the first wedding reception held in the new Albert Hotel Ballroom (now Matchmakers), 19th October 1955. Photo by, I think, A Cromarty.

Musicians would be : drums - Willie Marwick, affectionately know as 'Ha Will'; sax - Jim Robertson, owned the Fudge Factory; double bass and accordian - Alfie and Tommy Linklater; guitar - Phil Turton(I think), and on piano, not sure, but could be a young Adrian Stuart. (If I'm wrong with any of this, then I'm sure someone will be on hand to correct me). Jim and Adrian still going strong, although not as much musically these days.

I believe so, Ron. It's in the same envelope as all the other wedding and blackening photos and has the same numbers stamped on the back of the print. I was told the photos were taken by an Alfie Cromarty who worked, I think, at the Highland Park. It was lucky he took them because the actual wedding photographer, after snapping merrily away at the reception, discovered he'd had no film in his camera!
