Found this photo of the Edward Z Dresden (former Stronsay Lifeboat) in a book. This was her being repaired after being used for the evacuations from Dunkirk.
Lifeboats from stations along the south coast were used by lifeboat crews and some were comandeered by the Navy to do this work.
It says that the Edward Z Dresden was not badly damaged, only lots of bullet holes in her hull.
Its a pity our Lifeboats could not get as many men to work on them in the boatyards today the refits would only take a few days!

Clare has a good photo of a Longhope lifeboat John, expected you to tell us who the men were. Maybe you did not see the photo.
