A Dougie Cooper picture, date estimated. The Islander is at the pier, along with The Orcadia, so I've plumped for 1972. Not much wind by the look of things, and the dinghies would seem to be Merlin Rockets, with an Albacore in the middle.
Who are in the boats? I guess that it's Dan Grieve in the Albacore.

Correction! 2077 is Veni Vedi Vici sailed by John Skea and maybe myself. 2864 is Skadi sailed by L Tait. Date later than 1978. Most likely 1980.

Yes Dan Grieve in an Albacore called Mizpa. Leviathan was owned by his nephew Raymond Grieve and it was sold to Mr Groat who had the chip shop in Stromness. I think 2077 is Skadi with Leslie Tait and the white one in the middle is Ella with Harcie Hutchison. ( I think and stand to be corrected)

The Merlin Rocket with the sail number 2777 was a later model which has a wide soup bowl shape. it's called Leviathan and is still sailing in Longhope. Not sure who owned it at the time of the photo. Possibly Leslie Tait

Yes it's me in 2777, the first of the soup plate styled Merlin Rocket's to race in Orkney, crew at the time was Russell Corsie. Remaining boats are probably Wake - Pottinger boys and Bora (coloured mainsail) with the Foulis boys.
If anyone knows that Leviathan (2777) comes for sale please get in touch.

Sail number 2077 is Veni Vedi Vici owned by John Skea. To the far right is Skadi (2864) owned by Leslie Tait. I would agree with Willie Watters that the white Merlin is most likely to be Ella owned by Harcus Hutchison.
