A Dougie Coooper picture taken in December 1966. Roddie Hibbert is the gent on the pier, and in the background You can see a dilapidated Girnel, the white front of Jeck Miller's bike shop, and to the right of the Old Men's Hut the former offices of the Orkney Islands Shipping Company.

I think this the boat Peggy Shand used to work salvaging scrap at Sanday, note the heavy mast for heavy lifting and the steel plates on the deck

This Jansar was owned by Robert Swannay (Ayre Hotel) and used on salvage work around the blockships at the Barriers for a time. She had a Gleniffer engine I recall but lay partially sunk where the Lifeboat now lies for a considerable time around 66 or 67 eventually being moved to the Hatston Slip beside the "Alec King" and broken up in 1970ish.

Peggy Shand had three sons, I think, Raymond, David and Robert

Yes Peggy has a son called Robert but he doesn't live in Orkney. I haven't seen him in Burray for must be 10 yrs or more.
