Further to Jim Cooper's picture #15379, here is a group photo of the men in the procession. Was this for the formal opening of the Moncur Memorial Church in Stronsay? My father, Malcolm Sutherland, is sitting third from the left, and the piper on the left is my uncle, Eric Sutherland. I'm sure someone will be able to name a few of the others. The photo is by J. W. Sinclair.

I wonder if anyone of them could build a wall

The kirk was opened on 11th May 1955. The masonic parade was on 24th July 1955. It had nothing to do with the opening. I expect somebody thought it a good idea at the time. I have a few more similar pictures that might be of interest.

Many of them were builders. I can see the clerk o works with Orkney County council there, also clerk o works with Shetland County Council there so I guess they could build a wall no bother
