Is that Holm Snipe H6 'Firewood' in background ?

There used to be several Enterprises came across the Firth for the regattas in the '60s - Scrabster sailing club seems spring to mind.

Westray club had 4 or 5 Enterprises, two people I recall racing them were the late Norman Cooper and Jim Burgher. Boat names I seem to remember were El Diablo and Diana, don't know if those boats were sailed by Norman and Jim. Dr Haywood in Kirkwall had one - Skua? Don't know if he actually raced her in Kirkwall Bay - possibility he may have been in Westray before moving to the Clay Loan. Finally of course John Leslie in Kirkwall had Merry Dancer.

Karen like you I think that is Firewood. Could be Kontiki disappearing behind the Enterprise mainsail as she had a dark hull with sky blue sails. On the right of the Enterprise is another Snipe and a Merlin Rocket. I think the Merlin is my uncle Dan in First Attampt - sure he had a suit of sails that had no sail number.
Had the pleasure of sailing with your Dad at one Holm regatta as he thought it wis "a bit windy for you". At the time my wife was my crew in my Albacore Corona, wife was not happy that I left her ashore to sail with your Dad. As we lived in the village at the time we looked upon the Holm regatta as our home event even though we raced in Kirkwall. Got cold shoulder at home and at sea that day as it was a good blow and raining with it. Funny how you don't mind getting weet fae the sea, but rain!!
Don't think we won anything that day, but we did stay upright and got as many Snipes as possible on the water.

Hi Raymond, could one of the westray boats been "Tystie" as I think that may have been the name for the one that went to Longhope.
