Great photo very dramatic, what is the trawler and where was she broken down?
Is that fish cages astern? Were there cages at Lyness in 89?

Was the outfit back in that days called NORSEA, and I think there would have been cages aboot there from around the mid eighties. The trawler was called MARY FRANCISE. Canna mind the exact position whar she broke doon but she was either coming or gan to Lyness.

Pretty sure that the cages were there in 89 and would have belonged to Norsea. I think they would have started there 86 ish. Chap was called Per Nordal. Very nice Norwegian chap.

This photo of charlies is another of his fakes. Look at wind on water ahead of boats and astern.(two seperate days). Also O.I.C.bought into Knights towage in 1979 and painted wheelhouses white(as alan knows). Also there was no cages in Lyness in 1979.

Aw buey yir a bit oot o touch there. I joined Orkney Towage in 1976 from Knights and the company was already formed then. Yes they painted the wheelhouses white and they were white for years but this incident happened in 1989 just before the Kessock was handed back to Knights early 1990. And before they were handed back the wheelhouses were changed back to J.P.Knights colours. I doubt if the cages were there in 1979 as Per only came there in aboot 1986, but wir no speaking aboot 1979 this pic is 1989 and the incident is genuine.

Spacer/Stewart Cursiter was skipper on the Kessock at the time, the trawler broke down as she was comming into Lyness and the Kessock was about to make fast a/s Kintore at the time so was able to give assistance.
