Rognvald Leith moved the family Butcher shop to where the Alliance & Leicester is now some time in the late 60s

My father (Jack "Cheesie" Miller) bought this shop from Ronald Leith some time shortly after this photograph was taken. When my father put forward the planning application to renovate the building, the Kirkwall Town Council asked my father to re-locate the front of the shop about 1 meter back to alleviate the bottleneck which he duly did.
The shop front today is now aligned with Hourstons the jewellers.
We ran the business as *The Pork Shop" for some 35 years before selling to Donaldsons in the late 80's (I believe).
