The boat in the foreground is still put to sea every summer. She is known as the "Nellie" and is now powered by steam. She is owned by John Meil from St Ola

This boat "Nellie", was this the same boat that used to belong to the Moodie-Heddle family of Melsetter? I believe that was the name of their own private transport.
In the early 1970s we towed a similar boat which had broken down in Scapa Flow (with fuel problems) into Scapa Pier. The name on the boat then was something weird that I can't remember, but we were told at the time it was the same boat which was owned by Melsetter Estate all that years before.
I believe she was damaged as she was lifted from the side of the Scapa pier following the above incident.
Does any of this ramble mean anything to anyone or am I just going on and on about some distant rubbish that bores the life of my family daily!!
Possibly the name at the time we towed her in was "Posiden" ???
