Tugboat Barracuda at Kirkwall pier. She was Dutch. I believe she has been done up since this photo was taken - needed a good coat of paint!

This is the tug which took the St. Rognald off Thieves Holm.

If my memory serves me right the 'Barracuda' failed to tow the 'St Rognvald' off Thieves Holm and the salvage vessel 'Bever' was then brought in to do the job - see picture #3477

Barracuda of Smit-Tak was used during the Flotta pipeline commisioning about 1975-76 and spent quite a bit of time around the East side of Orkney. Sometimes anchored East of No1 Barrier for shelter.

At the time,I was working onboard the barge "FLOTTARIAN" east of Rumly Point, preparing the seabed for the pipeline to Flotta."Barracuda" and "Beaver" were working for us(OCEANEERING). I left and joined M.V. ST. MAGNUS 23/9/74. R909363

does anyone remember the tug Huskisson that worked in Scapa Flow at this time?

yes remember the Huskisson , I got a tow in with her to Burray pier in 1975, I had a oil pump failure on the engine of the Despatch, and called the coastguard, Huskisson over heard me and offered a tow in .. I was a bit concerned of a huge salvage claim, but a bottle of Highland Park was all the skipper wanted, cheap tow in..lol..... nice wee tug she was..
