St Magnus Relics

The relics of St Magnus (or are they?) photographed in 1913 by Tom Kent.
Picture added on 22 March 2004
The date is actually 1919, as can be seen in the bottom right corner
Added by David Mackie on 16 December 2004
They were discovered 31st March 1919 and initially examined by Dr Robert Heddle on 2nd April 1919. Discovered by clerk of works who noticed some facing stones on the large south pier were loose. He pushed a footrule between the stones and struck the wooden box containing a variety of bones. Photograph must have been taken on the day that they were examined by Dr Heddle
