Scar, Sanday

Picture taken in summer 2004. I understand that the single story building on the right of the main house was the house's school.
Picture added on 28 January 2005
Comments:
There was also a smiddy under the left hand building

I lived in that house when I was younger! Amazing experience, beautiful house. I haven't seen any recent pictures, this is the newest. I see the land is still untameable.

I'm glad that you like Scar House, I bought it in 2000. Yes that is the school house at the end, It has got a blacksmith to the left of the house.

Very interesting to see this photo. I am descended from a sister of the George Horwood who lived here in the late 19th century. I would be interested in finding out a bit more about the house if anyone has any details.

I discovered that my great grandmother's first cousin William Cowper Ward was born at this house in 1861 and died here in 1943. Did more than one family live here at a time?

My great Uncle Augustus Aldridge married Mary Horwood , daughter of George FF. They emigrated to BC.

I'm also a Horwood descendant, would love to have a chat with any one that wants to share family tree/ancestry information.

My grandfather Edward Arthur Aldridge(b1856) was the oldest son of Laetitia Horwood and Rev Edward Henry Aldridge. 4 of his siblings died young. He was a doctor who fought through WW1 having given his age as 20 years younger than the truth. When the Army caught up with him he joined the RAF as medical Officer at Halton. He spent 17 years in China until he returned in 1895 and married. His brother Augustus -also a doctor married Mry Horwood and emigrated to Pender Island BC

Hi I stayed in your house about 50 years ago,it belonged to my aunt, jean ward. I was there to bury my grandfather, Robby Seatter. I saw a ghost in your house in an upstairs window, it was a young girl. I am wondering if you are aware of this phenomena, I would love to know. Thank you. Ian Rabbeth

We own Nouster nearby (two miles by road or one mile along beach ). We had the pleasure of Anwen Evans coming to stay at our Air B&B so she could revisit her childhood home of Scar of 7 years. So much History there, amazing building and Anwen had amazing memories.
