Taken c 1950. James Cooper was born in Sanday in 1878. He served 40 years in the Post Office as a telegraph linesman and worked in Stornoway, Aberdeen and Ballater before returning to Kirkwall in 1924 where he worked until his retirement in 1938. One of his sons, Dougie Cooper was a well known football manager, photographer and musician in the County
