John Gray skippered the Watchful, the Hoy Head was Albert Knight. The Watchful and Hoy Head were part of Bremner & Co shipping owned by Captains John Gray, John Hourie and John Bremner.

Albert Kirkpatrick was the skipper of the Hoy Head, Jock Knight worked on it and stayed on it all night at the Longhope pier, his home was in Stromness.
Albert Knight was the Longhope policeman in the 1960's before Jimmy Kirkness in the later 1960's

Speaking of The Hoy Head. Does anyone know where I can get a Harry Berry plate of her? They were hand made in the 1970s and early 80s by Harry in his garage at Melsetter.I have the one of The Watchful which came into my possesion in rather a strange way last year.I was with a friend visiting a charity shop in Tain, I want do up my bathroom with a sea side theme and have been gathering bits and pieces for the last couple of years, my friend spotted a plate which he brought to my attention saying it had rather a nice boat on it. I went over to investigate and here was the Harry Berry Watchful plate! I paid the £5 asking price and it now has pride of place on my bathroom wall here in Alness. The watchful has special memories for me as my mother and myself used to travel aboard her on summer sundays to visit the Woodpeckers, the two elderly ladies who lived on Cava. The watchful would take us level with the island then the Woodpeckers would come out in their tiny dingy and pick us up, we had to climb down a rope ladder to get into the dingy and it was quite an adventure ! I would dearly love to have a Hoy Head plate to match my Watchful one and will pay a fair price for it if one becomes available ! Please Email me on [email protected] if anyone has one they would like to sell me. Thank you in anticipation !

Further to the message by Elaine Sutherland dated 28/12/2018 I have a plate of the Hoy Head but with no reference to Harry Berry plates on the internet I cannot guarantee it is by him. I've tried to email Elaine with pictures but the email came straight back as the email address doesn't exist if anyone knows of Elaine or any family who may still want a Hoy Head Plate
