Was this boat named "Fairway"if so did not the same owner have a smaller cruser stern boat "Clearway". What became of them?

Is that the 'Fairway' Willie?

Did Eric Tait and Ronald Tait use this boat for sea angling out of Stromness at one time?

Davie Brown and Eric Tait owned the Fairway at one time and I think Clearway was the name of Professor Miller's boat. Don't ken where they are now.

The Fairway was a 'sister ship' to the Clearway, both owned at one time by Danny and berthed in Scrabster. Professor Miller bought the Clearway before I purchased the Fairway in 1981/2.The Fairway was built in Stromness at Pias with a fairly narrow beam, but heavily built timbers as she was used as a pilot boat out of Scrabster by Mr. McDonald (a relation of Danny's). The stern was decked out for this purpose, I had rails put round to allow anglers to fish from the after deck, you can see by the photo that she was meant for accessing ships ladders from the stern. She could turn a good speed even with the four cylinder air cooled Lister (noisy after a days sea angling). Ronald used to help with the sea angling being very keen to fish as he is still today. I eventually sold the Fairway to the late Eric Tait who continued to take folk sea angling.I would be grateful for any info regarding her whereabouts today, I believe she went initially to Westray where she was re-engined and then to the West coast, but I can't be certain. I have some old photos.

The Fairway was indeed owned by my Father the late Eric Tait up until 1988 when she was sold to a Westray man.She was re-engined the after raised deck was cut out and she was painted blue. I would love to know where she has gone and would be happy to be able to get some photos of her, my father always wished that he had not sold her, so did I.

Thanks Tommy, it is good to know that she is being well looked after. I am disappointed that I missed her in the basin when you took the photo, she looks smart. A grand boat that was a faithful friend to me.
Best regards Davie Brown
