A Tom Kent picture, date unknown.

Time to unseal the well perhaps? Or was it sealed up for a very good reason?

In the early/mid 1960s a visitor to Orkney (Mr Desmond Fippard) found the stone in a dilapidated state, he purchased some white paint from a local store in Stromness. He then cleaned and painted the stone in order that something as important as this did not go unnoticed for any future visitor.Des Fippard went on to become a director of Ford Motor Co Australia

Why was the well sealed?
