Finstown from the north west

A Tom Kent picture, date unknown. Things to note: the old Firth school in an earlier picture is the long building on the near side of The Ouse; the small building opposite it on the other side of The Ouse is the slaughterhouse, new then, gone now; as is the kirk in the kirkyard; and Maitland Place is clearly Not Part of Finstown, as my dad the Finstown purist has always maintained.

Comments:
Family history has me searching anything of a John Maitland, merchant, of Finstown, who married a Helen Marshall, of How, Overtown. John's parents were John Maitland, farmer, and Jane Gray, ms Smith. Helen's parents were Alexander Marshall, farmer, dec., and Elizabeth Marshall, previously Douglas, ms Smith. Just wondered if Maitland Place bore any connection?
