Willie John Irvine, Sandwick, with his 1921 Model T Taxi

Comments:
Great picture Ron. I would imagine this was one of the first cars in the Parish. Do you have any more information on the car or the taxi service he provided from the shop at Milton Cottage? I remember Willie John and the word eccentric doesn't even come close to describing him. A great character of the era!

Wow! I am over the moon to find the pic of WJ. Through my research I have determined that he was the last of my Munro ancestors on Orkney (he was married to Janet "Jennet" Munro and they never had any children so that was it when he died in 1984). Thx so much for the pic and the comment about his personality - it is incredible to have. If anyone is interested, I'm happy to share the family tree.

Correction to my 18 June note ... WJ was the son of Janet "Jennet" Munro (1859-1940). He was married to Ann Spence (1895-1962). They are buried together in St Peters Kirkyard in Sandwick. Apologies for my excited haste the first time around!
