Not an Orkney house but one built by an enterprising Orcadian - Murdo Lowe, an 18th century trader. Smoo Lodge, Durness was clearly built on the proceeds of a successful business. Lowe's 'store' was the nearby Smoo Cave.
The house was recently on the market, having been the holiday home of BBC Scotland broadcaster Ian Anderson.
