At Boathouse, Rennigal

Maybe 1927 At Boathouse, Rennigal, Island of Hoy

Front L to R - Jim Baikie he was killed at Boathouse by lightining when he was just 22 yrs old. He went out to tie down a hay stack and they wondered why he hadn't come back in and when they went looking he was dead. The house was struck a few times and crockery got broken on a dresser I was told. Thought there was Iron Ore under the house that maybe caused it.

Vic Baikie who died I think aged 51 in April 1969 just weeks after the Longhope Lifeboat Disaster. When he was in charge at the club he was so tall you didn't question him. "Plenty of room for that boys out on the football pitch" was his words if trouble broke out..........memories.
Their parents George Baikie a master carpenter who had the job of making a lot of coffins when the Royal Oak sank and his wife on the right.
Maria Simpson née Baikie who died in May 1978 and her sister Bella Graham née Baikie who died young leaving 2 duaghters Elma and really young Olive.

Comments:
Hi Beryl, of course you know that this is my Grandfather and his siblings and parents. I think the date will be early 1930s, as my Grandad was born in 1917, and James beside him died in 1934. I reckon Grandad is probably about 15 or so here, so perhaps more like 1932?

Also, my great grandmother's name (Middle, beside George) was Ann Wilson.
