RAF dog-tags

When picture #26240 showing my Dad's WW1 identity tags popped up in the OIL random column, I took it into my head to look for the ones I used until I left the Service in 1987. The technology involved hadn't changed much. Wonder what they use now - an implanted chip? Can't see anyone today producing these things by hand, even with the much smaller numbers of personnel requiring them. With the differing shapes of the tags, and the unevenness of the result, it looks like they were done one character at a time with a hammer and punch.
