Comments:
Dougie Shearer was the man behind Phoenix Records in the 1960's and long before he died it was his wish to see all of his beloved Phoenix Records tracks issued on cd. There were 7 EP records in all. I have spent years trying to track down the master tapes - to no avail. However with modern day technical wizardry and the expertise of Owen Tierney and with the considerable support of Ken Ross, all the Phoenix Records tracks will appear on one cd compilation very soon. Sales of the cd will support the childrens cancer charity CLIC Sargent. Watch this space - and the local press and radio!

I rememnber these recordings very well. In fact I am on a few of them. I can't remember the apparatus used, perhaps a Vortexion or British Ferograph recorder, operated by Bertie Stockan.
The microphones were good quality, low impedance, moving coil.
Good gear at the time.
