To-day, as we celebrate victory

Today I came across my copy of this royal message (tucked inside my grandparents' family Bible) having not seen it for more than 65 years. Both sides are shown above. MY FAMILY'S WAR RECORD is blank, out of sheer idleness on my part rather than lack of anything to put in.

Do you know why this is signed George R.I rather than George R.VI ?
Added by Jonathan on 28 November 2018
R.I. means Rex et Imperator, King and Emperor, as British monarchs were styled Emperor of India from the 1870s (Empress in the case of Queen Victoria) until India was granted independence in 1947.

Season's greetings to one and all.
The initials following the name indicate Rex and Imperator - Latin for king and emperor. This usage persisted until the concept of the British Empire gave way to that of the British Commonwealth.
