KAOS in HMS Pinafore

Kirkwall Operatic Society in "H.M.S.Pinafore" May 1927
- Thomas Kent

I may have submitted this before but didn't include T. Kent's title under the image.

My father, Gordon Chalmers Windwick, is he second sailor from the left in the back row of sailors. He emigrated to Canada in December 1927.

Fine photo. Great backdrop too!

Have you any more like this Greg.
My grandfather William Burges is in the same row No6 from the left.
This is very interesting.

Just one thing bugs me about this photo. Tom Kent has arranged his 45 subjects in almost perfect symmetry - and then goes and spoils it by placing two men at the left end of the front row, when there should clearly have been one at each end.

That must be Johnno Macgillivray (Master Baker) 5th in from the left on the front row.

Third row, 4th from left is my mother, Mary Groundwater(Spence).

I should have said 4th lady from the left. My apologies.

I am related to John Mainland McGilvary (various spellings) 1874-1942 (Master Baker, Kirkwall). Could this be him?
Added by Sheena Moir on 29 November 2014
Could that possibly be my grandfather William Hourston...front row ....4th from left?
Added by Kathleen Taylor on 14 July 2023
from Sheena Moir - photo HMS pinafore performers: It is not John Mainland MacGillivray but his brother E..... MacGillivray. He had an operatic voice and I have seen comments about him and HMS Pinafore (enjoyment of and connection to).
