Burnmouth Road 1954

Photo taken, 1954, a good school friend Jim Sclater standing in Burnmouth Rd. Looking to the left is the rear of the Ayre Hotel which has changed vastly over the years - the wall from the garages up to the high building was knocked down to create a car park and lately the garages have been demolished and a new house has been built by the owner of the Ayre Hotel. The other side of the road is virtually unchanged. Added by Phil Brough.

Jeemo's no changed much. I think the shop where the young girl is was Walls Cycle Shop, and up past it was Maxwell's, boatbuilders.

You are fairly right, Sandy, I bought my 2nd new bike from Alfie Walls' Cycle Shop,a Rudge Ulster Tourist, which cost 15 Guineas in 1956, Two Years after I sold it back to Alfie for the same price as I paid for it. Added by Phil Brough.
