Bollards no more

BOLLARD A bollard on its way out. These were a feature of the Quoybanks Area Traffic Calming Scheme. Many of the more ludicrous features of this scheme are being removed – thank goodness. I don’t know who designed the scheme, but they have cost the taxpayer a fortune.
Photo 10/04/2011 – which was a right bonny day.

glad to see the back o them, who ever thought they were a good idea anyway?

It is now a pleasure to drive either up or down Warrenfield Crescent on to Craigie Crescent and on to Quoybanks Crescent without meeting oncoming traffic head on. All credit to the Council and the councillors for listening to the power of the people and removing them. The bollards were a hazard for all drivers. Added by Phil Brough.

Bollard (two actually) still there at 2nd July. Note the illegally parked car. Parking within 10 metres of junctions, and on pavements, is rife in the Quoybanks area. There are no double yellow lines at the junctions in this area, as there are at other similar situations in Kirkwall.

Bollards and the associated road works still there at 31st July. The pavement parking continues.

Still there on 2nd October. Is this not actually a roadworks now? Should it have lights at night?
Why does OIC not remove these two remaining bollards before they cause an accident?
Added by Sandy Windwick on 02 October 2011
I see from The Orcadian 13th October, 2011, that work to remove these bollards, and to complete the roadworks, will commence on 31st October, 2011.
