I'm thrilled to put these photos on the web, kindly authorised by Mary Evans - daughter of Fara Island's teacher, Normah Linklater 1934-1937.

Bella Bremner, in the pic with the pram, had 2 children on Fara, Billy and Violet, and moved to Flotta and had another son, think he was Ronnie.

My late wife's aunt by marriage was a teacher in Fara, it was her first School after qualifying, her name was Greta Sutherland from Spittal in Caithness. Gretta later married Bill Dunnet fae Waas and they later lived in Edinburgh where she taught in Newhaven. Greta died a number of years ago.
Does anyone know when she would have been in Fara??.

The School Log of South Faray 1920-1939 records 5 teachers: Annie Brown(20-32), Jessie Harper 2/8/32-23/11/34, Normah Linklater 26/11/34- 30/4/37 Margaret (Gretta) Sutherland 4/5/37 "There are now three children on the roll as Mackay MacKay has left". 15/10/37 " My duties as teacher in this school cease today- 100% attendance for week - Margaret Sutherland. Henrietta Linklater 18/10/37-20/10/39 "School closed on account of the air-raid. Attendance for week 100%".

Margaret Sutherland was a teacher on Fara from 4/5/37 till 15/10/37. I have the school log from 1920-39
