Visit aboard HMS Lyness

October 1971
Locals were invited aboard the HMS Lyness when it was anchored out in the bay in Longhope. We had a lovely meal and drinks which was provided by officers and their wives. This was us coming home ,none of us in the photo were in too bad a shape, one or two were in a different state but no names mentioned! Left to right Beryl, Mabel & Mervyn Gillespie, Anne, John & Olive Groat, Violet Williamson & daughter back on. Madgie Stout, Margaret Kirkpatrick with Alice Johnston just out of sight. Dad couldn't fit everyone in which was a shame.
