Arter the war I believe there was a welcome home committee formed here on Hoy, and these above certificates were presented to the service personel who had contributed to the war efort. This is Faithers ane and as you can see hid wiz never on the wall but stuck in a drawer.
J B Foubister who was the Chairman of this fund was the Doctor on Hoy at that time I believe a native of Shapinsay, and was his son Ben? also Doctor here on Hoy at a later date?.
J M F Groat was a merchant on the island and the founder of Groat merchants that still continues today.
