This picture was sent in by me, and shows the Stromness Golf Club float in a Stromness Shopping Week fancy dress. Perhaps someone can help date it, and tell us what, or who, they were taking off.

Gordie the year was 1985 - the float was indeed Stromness Golf Club doing their version of 'South of the Border'. We picked up second prize for this effort and the customary Sunday sore heid. The cast from l to r - Dave Walker, Tommy Wishart (seated), Skip MacIver, Abbo Thomson, Billy Sutherland & Ollie Tait. Missing from pic Jimmick Sutherland and Billy Leask. Last year was our 30th consecutive year doing a shopping week float from Stromness Golf Club and hopefully we will be taking part this year again. - Cheers Skip
