Date is a guess .Thinking this is a Kirkwall East Kirk Sunday school Christmas party
Right at the front we have Carol Ann Jolly looking cute
At the left must be Marion's sister again, Pauline Wishart.
Could the girl to the right of Carol Ann be Laura Chirgwin
whos father would have been minister at the kirk.

Comments:
Yes my sister Pauline on the left without her glasses for some reason and clutching her skirt. Looks as if it's the same year as the pic of her standing in front of the tangle boat at Kirkwall pier - where she again is not wearing her glasses. That is Laura Chirgwin. Think the girl on the extreme right with glasses is Elizabeth Stephen [her Dad was a teacher at the KGS].

Later than 1955 .My guess 1957 as I am pretty sure I (Jennifer Scott) am the little girl being held by the lady in the black top I was born in 1954. She ran the "junior" Sunday School--Margaret Robertson. Her daughter Olna (alice band, white top) is at her right shoulder. Think L.Chirgwin is correct.

Yes Marion is right. This was before I had to wear glasses so must be Christmas '55. Names that immediately spring to mind are (behind me) Ian Ballantyne, beside me Ian Gibson, Carol Anne Jolly, Laura Chirgwin. Between Carol Anne and Laura is Lynne Smith (Cordock). Others in the photo are Avril and Deirdre Leith (both now dead), Ian Mcleod, Jane Chirgwin, Marian Simpson, Elizabeth Chalmers, Mary Cooper and her cousin Mary Cooper, Alister Gordon and Jack Mair. Father Christmas would have been Doctor Gordon. I shall try and look out my copy as I had named most of the people in it.

Forgot to add that the party took place in the church hall in Victoria Street opposite where we lived at no 89. It is now the Baptist Church.

I got quite a surprise to-night to see the picture of the East Kirk Christmas party. I was brought up in the east end of Glasgow and my Sunday School teacher in Sandyhills Church in the thirties was Margaret Henderson who I think is the Mrs. Robertson the teacher in the above picture. Small world.

Margaret Stephen is the girl on the right. Alex Stephen, English teacher, was her father. One of the Duncan girls, possibly two, from the Clay Loan are there, also it could be Mary King holding a child.

I (Elizabeth Sclater) am being held in the back row. I'm wearing 2 ribbons. Kathleen Williamson (grand-daughter of William Hourston the jeweller in Albert St.) is being held in the back row, extreme right. I think the boy being held in the back row is called Jimmy but I can't remember the surname. Joey Harcus is standing in the row in front of him.

i am being held but don't know by whom, six along from Elizabeth. i think it may be one of the Argo sisters next to me. is that Heather Rendall's mum next to her?
Added by Margaret Hinckley on 02 March 2010
I didn't recognise my own sister! Margaret, you are being held by Enid Wilson(later Street). I think you are correct - Olive Argo next to you and then Heather Rendall's mum - ? Sinclair - her first name escapes me for the moment.
