Warness Tidal Turbine - It's big!!!

This pic of the Warness tidal energy turbine shows the size compared to the workmen on board. The ebb tide action can be seen on the structures legs. Once it is connected to the power cable and lowered beneath the surface it should generate quite a lot of power if it can withstand the forces produced by upwards of 9 knot tides and winter gales.

Comments:
I would like to know more about the person this Tidal Turbine appears to be named after: WARNESS
I am researching the WARNESS family tree, so if you could, please pass my name and email address to him.
Thanks,
Ron Warness

I think you'll find the name refers to Fall of Warness in the Westray Firth which is where the turbine is located and not named after the designer/manufacturer. More information can be found on the Orkney Renewable Energy Forum.
