Is it the remains of the box that's in the end wall of a cottage in Longhope.
The cottage used to belong to a Mr Dunnett who drowned in Stromness harbour some years ago now. IF this is the cottage, I remember we had a holiday in it the year before Mr Dunnett died. The Cantick lighthouse is near by too as the fog horn was going one night we were there.

I think you will be thinkin o The Green in Longhope, it has a VR post box but I think hids still there. If I'm wrong John Budge will ken better.

I wis telt whar it wis the day. Joost imagine that I hid walked past it for donkey's years when I stayed across the road fae it!!!
