This is another photo from the collection of glass plates belonging to the late Bob Spence. Can any of you Stronsay folks say if I'm anywhere near with my guess at the date?

I think you would not be far out with the date. The six houses nearest to the camera were all built about 1900 or soon after. My grandfather Cooper was hired to cart the stone for them and he left Stronsay in 1907

Just had a look today when in the village. The six houses all have dates between 1905 and 1907

Thanks for that Jim. We think most of the photos were taken around that time and this helps confirm it. Any idea why the flag is flying?

Sorry i have no idea about the flag . There appears to be a telegraph pole with only two cups on it so surely no many phones around at that time
